Some Pictures from Last Week

I've just noticed that I have left out this batch of pictures from last week.  They are nothing special.  Just some pictures of me helping out to clean the kitchen floor.  You can see from the last picture that I wasn't too thrilled to learn that my hard work wasn't recognized!

Babymoon? You Bet!

I’m sure that most of my readers will remember this trip.  Yes, this was Mommy and Daddy’s babymoon trip taken shortly before I was born.  Yes, that was me inside Mommy’s tummy.  Can you believe that?

Anyway, now that I’m around, Mommy and Daddy don’t really qualify for babymoon anymore.  But wait!  What about me?  I think I’m allowed to have a babymoon before ‘the baby’ is born.  In this case, the baby I’m referring to, is my, I’m told, little sister!  Because once she is born, I will no longer get any peace and quiet time alone by myself.  The more I think of it, the more I feel that I deserve a trip before my little sister is born.

So, where shall we go?  I suggested Osaka, Japan because of my fan base, but Daddy said ‘no flying!’  (I guess he didn’t know there are usually 2 pilots in each international flight, and that he doesn’t need to fly the plane himself.)

Mommy suggested Las Vegas.  But Daddy said he doesn’t think I can sit in a car for so many hours.  Hello, Daddy?  Remember?  We’ve been to Las Vegas together once before!?  Daddy paused and think for a moment and agreed to go on a trip to Las Vegas.

So on this past Saturday, we left to spend a night at Grandma’s house in Riverside, before heading to Las Vegas on the following day.  A few hours later, we arrived at Las Vegas!  They look just like the last time when I visited.  The one thing that was different, was the hotel that we stayed this time.

If you remember, we were very fortunate to have the opportunity to stay at the Bellagio during our last visit.  This time, we stayed at this hotel called THEhotel.  If you have never heard of it before, let me help you with a virtual tour of our room.

Thanks to some secret connections that Daddy has, we were upgraded to an end-unit room with a magnificent view, both at night and during the day.  Let’s start with the day view first!

Now, here comes the night view!

I don’t know about you, but I was very impressed by this hotel and the room so far!  I especially liked the window that goes all the way to the floor.  It fits my height perfectly!

So are you impressed yet?  Wait till I show what is in the bathroom… my private in-room swimming pool!

Yes, I know this is not a swimming pool.  But this bath tub is so deep and long that I can literally do laps in it, had Daddy taught me how to swim!  Speaking of swimming, did I tell you that this hotel has an awesome (real) pool?

With all these activities, of course I had to eat a bit more than usual.  That’s why whenever we're in Las Vegas, we always spent quite some time at the buffet restaurants.

It’s been a fun trip and before I knew it, it was time to leave town.  I truly wished that we can stayed for a few more days, but I guess there will always be next time… with my little sister!
Before I go, here are some pictures that we took during this trip.

Grandpa’s Deacon Ceremony

Today, I was invited to Grandpa’s Deacon Ordination ceremony.  Don’t know what a Deacon is?  Me neither!  But if you click here, it should provide you with some basic information.

But before we arrive at the church, we have to do something more important first… food!

We met Aunt Annie and Uncle Joseph at this Malaysian restaurant near Grandpa’s church, and we had a big meal there before heading over to the ceremony.  How big?  Let me show you some pictures!

I hope these pictures didn’t make you hungry.  Because looking at these pictures now certainly make me regained my appetite.

While at the Restaurant, I got to tried almost every dish that was shown above.  And of course, I got to spent some quality time with Aunt Annie and Uncle Joseph too!

After our early dinner, it’s time to head over to the church where the ceremony was held.  It was a 2 hour long ceremony, and since it was conducted in both Mandarin and English, I didn’t have a clue what they were talking about.  (Just in case you wonder, Mommy and Daddy only speak to me in Cantonese at home.)  Therefore, I was bored rather early, and it means that I got to go play outside, or I would scream out loud for attention.  Here is a video of me running around after I have won the battle of refusing to sit still.

A short while later, it was time for the actual ceremony.  Here are some footages:

Before I knew it, the evening was already coming to end.  While on our way home, Mommy mentioned to me that there will be another trip coming up… as long as I am a Good Boy!  I can’t wait to find out what’s been lined up for me!

My First Easter Egg Hunt!

Happy Easter everyone!

Although this is not my first Easter, this is certainly the first Easter that I can run around by myself.  Therefore, how else better to celebrate this Easter by running around looking for some Easter eggs?

And just so you know, I’m still accepting Easter gifts!  Here’s what I got for Easter from last year… just to give you an idea.

A Very Cool Gift!

I turned 16th month old yesterday!  Just when I thought no one would remember my 16th month old birthday, I was surprised by a parcel today!

When I learned that it was a postal-woman ringing the doorbell, I thought she was delivering just another gadget that Daddy ordered online.  But it turned out that the parcel was addressed to “Addison Chan!”  Another look at the stamps told me that the parcel was from Hong Kong.  Since I had to pretend that it was no big deal, I asked Daddy to open it for me, while I slowly walked away back to my toys.

Wow!  A pair of Adidas!  It was Aunt Phoebe who bought me this pair of Adidas!  I knew someone would remember that it was my 16th month old birthday!  And I knew that I can count on Aunt Phoebe and Uncle Chris!  For the rest of you… shame on you!

Thank you very much!  Aunt Phoebe!

A Day at Grandma’s

DSC04612

Dear Grandma,

I just want you to know that I had a great time at your house this weekend!

Although it took me a few months, but I have finally mastered the skills of slam dunking the basketball, thanks to the basketball set that you bought me for Christmas.

I also want to thank you for buying me all the toys that you see from this video below, so that I get to throw them around your house.

I’m sure you know by now that I like dogs.  And one of the many highlights of visiting your place is the opportunity to see Buddy and Lucky.  I find it funny whenever Lucky and Buddy are barking at me, because they totally remind me of Daddy’s scolding whenever he thinks I’m being naughty.

As much as I like playing basketball in your living room, I also like spending time in your front yard running around.  That front yard area is so big that I feel like I can run a marathon there.

Ever since I mentioned in my blog that you have a few orange trees in your garden, I received a lot of fan mails asking about those trees.  Questions like if the trees are actually orange in color, or if I have to climb up the trees to pick the oranges.  It was after reading all those fan mails that I realized… not that many kids around town have the luxury of having private oranges trees at home.  Knowing that makes it more fun when I am picking oranges from your garden!

Meanwhile, it was some great fun meeting your brother, Grand Uncle Luiz!  Although this weekend’s meeting was not my first time meeting him, he and I remain as very good friends!  However, can you ask him to shave his beard next time when we meet?  Because kissing him on his cheek was a bit painful on my lips.  Oh, also, is it true that he used to throw balls at Daddy and Uncle Chris when they were young?

I had so much fun at your place this weekend that I really didn’t want to leave your place that evening!  But I guess I can always come back to visit you again on another weekend.  Although I will surely miss Great Grandma and Grand Uncle Luiz as they are flying back to Hong Kong in a few days.

Last but not least, I want to share with you a few pictures that I took while sitting on the trunk of Mommy’s BMW.  I hope you’ll like these pictures as much as I do.

                                                                                                           With all my love,

                                                                                                                   Addison

Just a Few Pictures

Here are a few pictures taken at the lawn outside of my house.  Mommy likes to take me out for walks, even when Daddy is at work.  While out there, my favorite place is the lawn which I knew if even if I fell, it won’t hurt as much.

What Makes a Real Man?

If you still don’t know what makes a real man, let me tell you now!

“A man is not a real man until he is past 30.”  - Addison B. Chan

Feel free to quote me on it!  Because Daddy agrees with me too!

I’m Taking My Vitamins!

Come on!  You don’t think I just completely inherited all the good looks and charm from my Daddy genetically, right?  I have to take daily vitamins to keep my bones strong, and my brain boosted!  Lately, I’m even able to put the gummy bear vitamin in my mouth, myself!

Counting Oranges

Today, Mommy and Daddy took me to Grandma and Grandpa’s house in Riverside to spend the day.  As mentioned from previous post, Grand Uncle Luiz is also in town, and so does Great Grandma!  As expected, they are always thrilled to see me every time.  Here are some pictures that we took throughout the day.

Now, here’s a video of me picking up the picking up oranges and putting them into the bag.  I don’t know if I have mentioned to you before, there are quite a few orange trees in the front yard of my Grandparents house.  Every time when we visit them, Mommy always picked a bag loads of oranges home.  Recently, I was allowed/brought-along to the front yard to help picking oranges from the tree.  I even got to help out by putting the oranges into the bag as soon as they were picked from the tree.  I got this routine down so well that… that I even remember how to do this when I’m not in the front yard!

My First Meeting with Grand Uncle Luiz

Yes, that’s my Grand Uncle Luiz.  And 'no,’ I didn’t pull his mustache.  I don’t know why would anyone dare to mess with someone like him.  I’ve heard all kinds of horror stories about him… like how he lifted up Uncle Chris by just pulling on his ears, or how Daddy complained to Grandma all the time about how Grand Uncle Luiz was mean to him.  Although all these alleged incidents happened 30+ years ago, after spending a few hours with him today, all I have to say is…

DON’T BELIEVE IN THOSE RUMORS!

He seemed to be a very nice Grand Uncle to me!  He held me up all the time, played with me, and even took me out for a walk as soon as he over-heard me wanting to go out for a walk.

So Grand Uncle Luiz, don’t worry!  I won’t believe in a word that your 2 favorite nephews said about you!

(And for those who are still confused on how Grand Uncle Luiz relates to me, he’s the elder brother of my Grandma, who is also the Daddy of Aunt Juanita.)

Papaya and Milk

Daddy once told me that he doesn’t believe fruits and milk should be mixed together for consumption.  Obviously, as you can see from this video, Mommy didn’t agree with Daddy.  In this case, Mommy made this special “Papaya Milk Shake” just for me… and let’s just say that it tasted… very unique.  So unique that my taste buds weren’t quite used to.  Basically, I almost threw up.  Maybe a few drops of alcohol might help.  But that experiment has to wait another 20 years or so.  Until then, here’s the video…

Dance with Elmo!

This Elmo toy was a gift from Grandma from way back when I was much younger.  I didn’t appreciate it much back then, but now that I have learned how to turn this thing on/off at wish, I like this Elmo a lot more!  Below is a video of me trying to do the dance moves of Elmo…

Here’s another video taken on the following day.  This Elmo has been my buddy lately!

I’ve Met a New Friend Today!

Today, Mommy and Daddy took me out to have lunch with her old schoolmates.  Yes, people that actually went to (the same) school with Mommy (and in this case, Daddy as well).  It means that these people must have known Mommy and Daddy for at least 80+ years!

So we arrived at this vegetarian restaurant and the first thing that I saw… Hellloooo!?

こんにちは. わたしの名前は Addison – dess!

Whoo la la!  A Japanese girl!  I didn’t know Mommy and Daddy went to school in Japan!!?  One look at Daddy and he immediately introduced me to Aunt Sherry and her daughter Yuna.  It turns out that Aunt Sherry is the one who went to the same school with Mommy and Daddy… in Hong Kong, and it is her husband who is Japanese.

We sat down for a while and it wasn’t long before Aunt Winnie showed up with his latest boyfriend, Alex.

Throughout the luncheon, I was a bit cranky because I didn’t know that there will be a girl joining me for lunch, and I felt that I wasn’t at my best… to impress.  Furthermore, as you can see from this video below, I was sitting way too far away from Yuna, and I was so worried that Yuna couldn’t get close to me.

Fortunately, Yuna later had a chance to come closer to me.  I have to say I was very impressed by her demeanor because most girls wouldn’t be able to control themselves once they get within touching distance of me.  I guess the fact that Aunt Sherry (Yuna’s Mom) was there did play a factor.

Needless to say, both Yuna and myself stole the show all afternoon.  Here’s a video of Aunt Winnie playing with Yuna and me.

Last but not least, here are just a few pictures that Daddy took today.

What Shall I Tell Him/Her?

Okay, people!  When I was in my Mommy’s tummy, my Guest List looks like this

It has been almost a month since I announced that I will be having a younger brother, or sister, come July of this year.  And this is what his/her Guest List looks like.

Yes!  Sad, isn’t it?  No one cared to drop my future brother/sister a note to congratulate him/her for having such a good looking older brother!  And when I wrote ‘no one’, it literally means that the Guest List has zero entry!  (At time of typing this post.)

I don’t know about you, but I certainly do NOT look forward to explaining this phenomenon to my younger brother/sister.  After all, what do you expect me to tell him/her?  Do you want me to tell him/her that because I’m better looking and that’s why more people signed my Guest List?  Or do you want me to tell him/her that people just like me better than him/her?

So instead of having myself to deal with this ‘explanation’ in a few years’ time, I’m just going to point him/her to YOU!  And you know who you are!  Oh, and let me warn you ahead of time… it might be easier if it turns out that I’m having a younger brother.  If it happens to be a younger sister… I’m sure you all know how girls are like when they are upset!  Just don’t come running to me to find out what kind of girly dolls she likes!

Daddy, May I Borrow Your Car?

DSC_3408Comparison

Once again, posting has been light lately because of the various tasks that I have been doing these days.  I didn’t know that the older you can, the more work that you have to do.  Looking at Mommy’s tummy now, I asked myself if I rather be the one who is living inside Mommy’s tummy now?  Or do I rather be the big brother?  I think I’ll stick with being the big brother for now.

So what do you think of that picture above?  Do you think we look alike?  That’s Daddy to the left, and me on the right.  Daddy’s picture was taken when he was living in Taiwan.  My picture was taken during the Chinese New Year Week, when I spent the week at Grandma and Grandpa’s house in Riverside.  As for the cars, I didn’t find out where did that car come from (on the left); but I can tell you that the BMW convertible is Grandma’s car.

Anyway, back to the picture(s)!  If you like this picture on top, then you’re going to like all the pictures that Daddy took during that Chinese New Year Week holiday.

Meanwhile, here are some pictures that Daddy touched up, from Grandma’s collection.

Here is a video of me having some fun in Grandma’s BMW and Grandpa’s truck!

My Week-long Chinese New Year Celebration

With so many pictures and videos, it has taken me longer than I thought to get them processed and uploaded.  Finally, they are all done, and I’m proud to share with you some of the highlights of my Chinese New Year week-long celebration at Grandma and Grandpa’s place in Riverside.

Chinese New Year Day (年初一)

Since we were at my other Grandparents house for dinner last night, we didn’t get home until late.  To make things worst, Daddy noticed the tire of our car was running flat, and he was a bit concern if the tire can do another 70 miles trip to Grandma’s house.  So the first thing that Daddy did this morning was to brought the car to a Tire shop for check-up.  The prognosis of both rear tires were not good, and Daddy decided to get some new tires.  Which means that by the time he got home, it was already late in the morning.  With packing has yet to be completed, we did not leave the house until 1pm in the afternoon.

(By the way, just in case you are wondering, Daddy took a week off from work to celebrate Chinese New Year with the family.)

After an hour or so driving, we arrived at Grandma’s house, and immediately, she fell in love with my outfit!  Seriously, how could you not?  Here’s a video of me playing basketball with my Chinese New Year outfit.

What I had almost forgotten, was that I bought a birthday gift for Uncle Chris back in December.  And I thought it was a great opportunity to present to him his belated birthday gift, on Chinese New Year day!

Then towards the evening, I got to sit by the Mahjong table for the first time!

And here are some pictures…

Chinese New Year Day 2 (年初二)

I pretty much spent the entire day doing what you see in the video below.  Let me tell you, I was so tired by evening that I fell asleep immediately. Grandpa and Grandma’s house was just too big for me to be running around non-stop all day.

Chinese New Year Day 3 (年初三)

Aunt Phoebe arrived today from Hong Kong this morning.  Not that I didn’t get enough attention in the past few days, but with Aunt Phoebe around, I’m just going to get even more attention.  Otherwise, I pretty much did the exact same things as I did in the past few days… which is playing my toys.  However, I was also introduced to a new toy today!  It’s the organ.  No one has told me that the organ has been sitting there since the day I was born.  Had it not for the brilliance thinking of my dear Grandma, who thought that I might be interested in expressing the musical side of me, I would have never gotten the chance to play this fine piece of of music instrument!

Here's a video of me playing my toys while getting everybody’s attention.

Here are some pictures that we took on this Day 3 of Year of Ox…

Chinese New Year Day 4 (年初四)

I’m beginning to get used to living in Riverside by now!  There are so much room for me to run around the house that I didn’t even think I was at home.  I thought I was at the playground!  Today continues to be another day of running around the house, and taking plenty of pictures.  By request, I put on the same outfit that I wore on Chinese New Year Day 1, just so that Aunt Phoebe can take a few pictures with me in such outfit.  I was told that I brought shines to the outfit, and I made it look even more expensive!  For the record, it was my dear Grandma who bought this outfit for me while she was in HKG just a few months ago.  Yes, I know I'm good looking.  You don’t have to tell me.

Chinese New Year Day 5 (年初五)

It’s time to go home!  We woke up and after breakfast, Mommy and Daddy started to pack.  We arrived home by mid-afternoon, and things slowly returned to normal.  It’s been a fun and exciting week.  Once again, Happy Chinese New Year to you all!
