Uncle Joseph's Birthday Party!

So, I was told that we have a party to attend today. Today? But I just came back from a Las Vegas trip, and I'm still in hand-over mode! But as soon as Mommy told me that it's surprised brithday party for Uncle Joseph, I knew I have to be there. Because when Uncle Joseph throws a party, it only means there are plenty of girls! But as I was sitting in the car getting there, I realized that this was a 'surprised' party... organized by his wife, Aunt Annie! Therefore, technically, it's not really a "Uncle-Jospeh-Party!" Well, it's a party for him; just not organized by him. Oh well, it's still Uncle Joseph, and maybe if I don't show up this time, he might drop me off of his VIP list when he throws his next trademark-party!

So we got there, and everybody was busy setting up the place. And about half an hour later, Uncle Joseph came opening the door, returning home from a fishing trip...

Now that Uncle Joseph is here, it's time to Par-tee! Music please!

And after some eating and dancing, it was time for the birthday cake!

We had to leave early because it was getting close to Daddy's bedtime. So right around 8 o'clock, I had to tell everyone to excuse us because I need to take my Daddy home. Of course, everyone wanted me to stay, and I just couldn't. I just hoped the party went on fine, and people were having just as much fun as when I was there.

Here are some pictures throughout the party.

My First Visit to Las Vegas - Day 5

When I woke up this morning, I saw Mommy packing up our bags. For a moment, I thought we were heading to our next stop at another secret location liked this one. But no, Mommy told me that we were heading home. What? But we've stayed for only 4 nights! After all, this is my first visit, shouldn't we stay for a few more nights?

I don't know how but Daddy managed to pull a 7pm Late Check-out for our room, which meant that Mommy could take all the time she wants to pack, while I took all the time I want to enjoy a few more hours of this room.

But wait! Why was Mommy undressing me? I thought we had some time before we have to check-out! Oh, I wasn't changing clothes. Instead, I was butt naked when Mommy took me into the bathroom and there it was, Daddy! Since I didn't get to swim yesterday, Daddy thought that I should at least spend some time in our in-room, deep soaking, mini swimming pool! This time, Daddy made sure that the water temperature is up to standard, and let me tell you, Daddy had it just right! It made me wonder if he was also a swimmer, like me, when he was young.

I had much fun in our own mini swimming pool! Mommy took tons of pictures of us. Sadly, it was time for us to go, and it meant that we had to get off the water, get dressed, and get going.

Before we left town, Mommy and Daddy went back to Paris for some lunch (buffet!), and off we went... leaving Las Vegas!

It was a fun trip and I'm glad that Daddy took us along! Thanks, Dad!

But before I go, let me share with you all the food that I had to literally "sit through' watching Mommy and Daddy eat, but not me!

My First Visit to Las Vegas - Day 4

So before I went to bed last night, Daddy told me that he will try to leave work early today and take me to the swimming pool! Of course I'm all for it! Are you kidding me? I'm the next Michael Phelps, remember? I can't wait to hit the pool to show off a trick or two that I've learned from watching Mikey P's swimming in Beijing.

So to prepare for this big moment, I decided to take plenty of rest during the first half of the day, so that when Daddy comes back, I will be full of energy. I even thought about calling down to the hotel operator to tell them to hold all phone calls. But I didn't know what number to call for the operator, so I didn't do it.

But you know what, I over-slept! Daddy came back from work and I was still sleeping. I guess I was so excited that I was mentally drained. Fortunatley, when Daddy noticed that I was still sleeping, he woke me up right away...

Wake-up, Get Dressed, and Let's Go Swimming! from Addison Chan on Vimeo.

Swimming Pool, here I am!

But as Daddy slowly sinked me into the water, I felt something terribly wrong! The water temperature was not controlled at the Olympic Standard of 25-28C (77-82F)! It's way under that! It's way too cold for my muscles to get soaked in this kind of environment. That is not going to fly with a professional swimmer like me! Why did the hotel purposely chilled the water? I know it's hot out here, but to chill the water to this temperature level, will eventually turn away Professional Swimmers like me! I really didn't expect this to happen at a fine hotel like The Bellagio!

By then, I wasn't in a mood to swim anymore. Since Daddy still wanted to dip into the water for a bit, I decided to entertain him and hung out in the pool for a bit. "Just don't expect me to get into this freezing cold water!"

A short while later, we decided to head back to our room. Daddy made a dinner reservation at this French Restaurant called Mon Ami Gabi. The reservation is at 7:15pm, so we decided that we'd better get going.

What I didn't know was that this restaurant is not located at our hotel. Instead, we had walk all the way over to the Paris... the hotel, not the country. It is the hotel that we see right outside of our room. It took us about 10 minutes to walk over there. The walk was nothing; but the outside temperature was brutal!

We arrived at the restaurant and we didn't even had to wait. Daddy said it's because we have a reservation. I say it was because of my good looks! The dinner looked good and so did Daddy's glass of French Wine according to him. Right after dinner, we took some pictures of Paris on our way back to our hotel.

To conclude our evening, we stopped by Jean-Philippe Patisserie for some crepes as dessert, before heading back to our room for a good night sleep!

My First Visit to Las Vegas - Day 3

Earlier this morning, Mommy told me that she is going to take me to do some window shopping at the hotel. What window shopping? I don't want to buy a window so why are we doing window shopping? Personally, I'm just fine staying in the room jumping on the bed. This bed here seems a lot of more bouncy than the one Mommy and Daddy have at home. But since Daddy told me to look after Mommy, I guess I shouldn't tell to go window shopping alone. I just went along.

Later that day, Daddy came back from work... briefly, before heading out to a dinner meeting with his work people. We hung out at the lobby and took this cool video! There is this camera mounted on top of a minature train that runs throughout the indoor garden at the lobby. Video captured by this camera is sent to a TV screen, which is where Mommy was standing and recording this cool video footage. See if you can see Daddy and Me in these videos...

My First Visit to Las Vegas - Day 2

So after a good night sleep in my own crib that the hotel provided, I'm ready for some Vegas actions! But as soon as I woke up, I noticed that Daddy has already left for work/meetings. It means that it's down to me to show Mommy around the hotel. But before we headed out, I decided to bounce around the Mommy's bed because it seems that it was especially bouncy and comfortable.

So we headed out and let me tell you, this hotel is big! There are shops everywhere, and a very nice indoor garden. As long as I don't have to go outdoor, I'm okay with it! It's just too hot outside for my liking.

Here are some pictures that Mommy took today.

Later in the evening, Daddy finally returned from work, and immediately we headed out to dinner. We went to this place where you can eat all food you can, and you know what... the food looks very yummy! Here's a video that Daddy took while Mommy left to get more food.

Are We There Yet? Where Are We Going?

So I woke up this morning and the first thing I saw was a suitcase! The last time when I saw a suitcase sitting in my room, it was a trip to the Walt Disney World. Am I going to Walt Disney World again?

Maybe!

But of course, I have to pretend like it was not a big deal, and even pretended like I didn't even feel like going anywhere. So I had my breakfast and Daddy spent some time playing with me until around 9:30am, which is about the time when I take my first nap. But instead of taking me back to my room, Mommy took me to the car instead. Meanwhile, Daddy was busy putting the suitcase and a few other bags into the car. We are certainly going somewhere!

Shortly after, we left the house! And I soon fell asleep too!

When I woke up again, we were still in the car. Mommy was driving and Daddy was sitting next to me, half asleep. We pulled off the highway to get some food, and when Mommy pulled me off the car, I was like... "Holy cow! Where are we? This place is steaming hot!"

I had no idea where I was. All I new is that I wanted to get inside that restaurant QUICK! Once we have found a place to sit down, Mommy took me to the restroom to change my diaper. Meanwhile, Daddy continued to put his head on the table to rest. I soon learned that Daddy wasn't feeling well. As much as I wanted to ask Daddy where we are going, I didn't want to bother him too much because he didn't look like he was in a good mood.

After lunch, we headed over to the 'Star-bugs' place where Daddy continued to lay on the couch. During that time, I was totally having fun jumping up and down the couch, and getting the attention of everyone who walked by. After some time, the aroma of the coffee beans must have cured Daddy's problem, and we took off again! Thank goodness because I thought we drove all the way to this hot place just to sit at a Star-bugs.

Soon after Daddy started driving, I fell asleep again. About an hour later, we arrived at another location. I was hoping that it would be cooler outside, but when I got off the car, it was the same temperature if not worse. So where was I by then? I had no idea. All I cared was that I got to stay at an air-conditioned environment. There were shops and people everywhere at this place. But Mommy and Daddy seemed to know exactly where they wanted to go. A baby clothing store! Well, they looked and looked but they didn't see anything that they liked. So we left that place, and that mall, empty handed.

Well, maybe the shopping place was the destination. Maybe not. I didn't know. We shall find out because we were heading back to the car again!

After another quick nap, I was certain that we had arrived at our destination. How did I know? Because I saw Daddy pulling all the luggage out of the car! Again, the outside temperature is still extremely hot! I don't know why Mommy and Daddy are taking me to this place. We walked inside what appears to be a hotel. There were people everywhere and I saw Daddy walked up to a desk to sign some papers. And then we took an elevator to the 19th floor and walked into a room. A Hotel Room! And this is what the room looks like.

And here's what I see when I looked out the window...

If you know where is this place, then good for you! Because I didn't! But Mommy later told me that we are in the city of Las Vegas! And we are staying at the Bellagio Hotel. The reason why we are here is because Daddy is attending a conference here. And he decided to bring us along!

Yeah! I'm staying at a hotel again!

Before we knew it, it's dark outside already and I soon found out that our room overlook a beautiful pond/fountain with dancing water!

After the water fountain show, we went downstairs for some dinner and then we returned to our room to sleep. I don't know how many days we are staying here, but I certainly look forward to some fun!

A Farewell Dinner Event

Grand-Aunt Linda and Professor Suen are concluding their U.S. visit in a few days. Today Mommy and Daddy took me to have dinner with them, and Grandma and Grandpa. I don't know why Mommy and Daddy don't wait a few more days to bid farewell to them. However, I did hear that Daddy is going somewhere in the next few days. I just don't know where.

Anyway, here are some pictures of me taken with Grandma and Grandpa. I didn't take any picture with Grand-Aunt Linda, nor Professor Suen, because they were a bit under the weather, and Grandpa instructed me to stay away from them.

Anyway, it's been a pleasure meeting Grand-Aunt Linda and Professor Suen. Also, thank you very much for all the gifts that you bought for me. With that in mind, please come back to visit me soon!

One More Happy Brithday...

Today, August 16, is also the actual birthdate of another very important person. Today is the birthday of my Grandpa, William. Although I have never met him, I'm sure he has been looking over me in the past few months, and he certainly knows if I have been naughty or nice to Mommy and Daddy!

Mommy and Daddy took me this special place today to say a prayer to him, and to wish him a Happy Birthday. As usual, I know when to pretend to be a good boy, so I was espcially quiet while I'm there. We brought pretty flowers for him, and we stayed for a bit before we took off.

Here's a picture of Daddy and my Grandpa William taken back in 2002 during his visit to the United States.

Happy Birthday, Grandpa!

PS.  Daddy said the T-shirt that Grandpa is wearing in this picture represents the Red Devils.  And I am warned that I'm not to have anything to do with the Red Devils

Grandma and Grandpa Birthday Celebration

Today, Mommy and Daddy brought me to Grandma and Grandpa's home to celebrate their birthday... ahead of time. Their birthdays were 10 days apart in August and since I'm such an efficient person, why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone?

Happy Birthday Grandma and Grandpa!

Push-ups... with 1 Arm Too!

I've been watching some Olympic Swimming events with my Dad.  He was telling me that this Michael P guy has a very good chance of breaking the 7-gold medals record, set by Spitz, with 8 gold medals.
Well, I was thinking... why 8?  Why not 9?  That's when I decided that I should start working out some of my muscles and prepare for my next swimming event.

My 9-Month Check-up!

It wasn't a bad day at all to begin with. I slept well last night; I woke up at my usual hours, and ate my usual meals at the usual time. Mommy even took some pictures of me this morning, as you can see right here.

Then, when Daddy got home from work, it was time to go see the doctor for my 9-month check-up. If you have been reading my blog in the past 9 months, you know that I never had a problem with the doctor during my visit. As usual, the nurse always find an excuse to take my diaper off, and I did the usual measurements as you can see from this video here.

And then things didn't go too well!

I heard the word 'test', and I also heard the word 'blood.' I was expecting injection shots just like the past few times. But no, the nurse didn't come into the room with needles. Instead, the nurse was taking us to another room! I knew things were getting from bad to worse as Daddy was walking around the clinic, following the nurse into another room.

I wanted to tell Daddy not to go into the room, but it was a bit late. The rest is all captured on video...

My 9-Month Blood Test from Addison Chan on Vimeo.

I'm telling you, they just wanted my blood to clone me. They didn't need it for any stupid test!

Update: The test came back 'normal.' Whatever!

2 Gifts. 1 Cool and 1 Not as Cool!

Yes, as you can tell, this is the not-so-cool gift that I got from Professor Suen.  During her visit to the US, she made a trip to the Bay Area last week, and she bought me this sweater from this place called Stanford University.  The 'U' word alone is bad enough.  But to add an 'S' word in front?  Are you kidding me?  Who wants to go to school, let alone an University?  And Stanford?  You have got to be kidding me!  I don't care if the tuition is paid (as offered by Professor Suen if I get admitted), studying is not my cup of tea... for now!

Anyway, the cool gift is also from Professor Suen.  She bought a pair of Burberry's Jeans from San Francisco.  It's a bit tight so my diaper-ed butt is actually showing... rather nicely.  Here are plenty of pictures of me modeling my first pair of Burberry's.  Enjoy!

And thanks to Professor Suen, and Grand-Aunt Linda for all these beautiful gifts!

08.08.08 - My First Olympic

According to Daddy, the Opening Ceremony was spectacular!  No, I didn't watch it because the ceremony started after my bed time, even though (ceremony officially began at) 8pm Beijing time is really Morning hours in L.A.  Why the delay?  It's all about money, Daddy said.  I guess it's acceptable for some to watch an historic event on a 12-hour delay, while the rest of the world is watching it Live!
Anyway, I want to make an entry to this blog in honor of this historical event.  Maybe someday I will be a Olympian too.  Hey, you never know!  Pooping burns calories too!

A New Toy!

I got this gift for a while. I was just too YOUNG to enjoy it so Mommy and Daddy put it aside until I'm ready. As you can see, I'm still not quite ready for it yet, but Daddy said I should go ahead. This cool gift was from someone formerly known as Wendy. I was told that she changes her name once every few months.
