You people... how come none of you warned me that a New Year's Eve party means that I have to stay up waaaayyyy past my bed-time!? A simple "FYI" would have been enough so that I can gather a few more naps before the year ends! Gosh! I thought I can count on you guys to look after my well being! Oh, also, I thought Daddy drove all the way back to that place called Hong Kong yesterday, just to get to my Grandma's house. Did you guys know that she lives so far away? If so, why didn't any of you shoot me an email to, again, "FYI" me?
Anyway, as you can tell by now, yesterday was my first visit to my Grandma's house in this place called Riverside. Don't even ask... I didn't see any "River" there! After a 70-minutes drive, we arrived at Grandma's house. I swear that when we left our house, it was still bright outside, but it was all dark by the time we arrived at Grandma's.
According to Daddy, Grandma started the thermostat way early in the afternoon just to warm up the house for my arrival. Apparently, Grandma doesn't usually turn on the heater because it gives her dried-skin. But because of my visit, Grandma was worried that the house may be too cool for my liking. So as I step foot into her house, I was greeted by a warm and chearful crowd!
As you can see from the pictures below, in addition to the family members, Grandma's neighbor, Emily and Mike (and their daughter), also stopped by to meet me! In addition, long time family friend, Wendy, was also there. As usual, there were always 4 family members busy playing Mahjong for the most part of the evening. As for me, Aunt Phoebe and Uncle Chris pretty much held me all night long. Grandma also spent a fair share of time holding me. I didn't really sleep much during the evening because there were just too much activities going on. Although I did manage for about an hour of sleep later, in Daddy's room.
Then out of nowhere, the television started talking numbers. Something like Five, Seven, Three, Four, Nine, One... Happy New Year! I saw everybody hugging each other, and saying "Happy New Year" to each other. Almost everyone came over to give me a kiss! And of course... plenty of pictures were taken. I saw Daddy pouring some what he said is bubbly-grape-juice, and everyone started drinking. As usual, I was left out of all drinks and food as always! I really wonder when will that change? Hopefully in 2008!
We didn't leave Grandma's house until after 1am. By the time we got home, it was almost 3am. By then, I was feeling a bit hungry and didn't feel like sleeping. But you should look at Mommy and Daddy's face! They were not too happy with me not feeling sleepy! The rest of the night/morning, let's just say... I'm glad Mommy thinks that I'm cute!
It was a really fun evening! My visit to Grandma's house was exciting! Her house is so big that I couldn't wait to learn how to walk so that I can run around that place all day long!
Before we go to the pictures, I just want to have a moment of silence to remember my Great-Grandpa in Hong Kong, who just passed away on Monday evening, Hong Kong time. May you rest in peace!
